After Relief Printing Symposium in Leipzig
Time: 29 July- 23 August 2013
Location: “Edition Carpe Plumbum”, Spinnerei, Leipzig, Germany
The “2nd Relief Printing Symposium” in Spinnerei, in Leipzig was wonderful opportunity for printmakers to create art using old and good relief and letterpress printing machines made in Germany. Printer and pressman – Thomas Siemon helped for us to print our works. It is look everything was possible when we had such good master like Thomas. For me it was wonderful to see how he works with different presses and printing machines, how good he is in it. Atmosphere in the workshop – fantastic, like in old museum, with many instruments, colours, papers, typographical’ “things”, printed texts and postcards or posters on the walls and in other spaces. All workshop like one big installation.
For the Symposium were invited 5 different artists: Maribel Mas from Barcelona, Dimitrije Pecic from Belgrade, Benjamin Dittrich and Natascha Mehler from Leipzig and Kestutis Vasiliunas from Vilnius. It was nice, that all artists were very different with own art style and conception, working with different techniques. So in the end all created works in the Symposium were good, interesting and different.
