“This workshop will explore how differing book bindings are used to create content through the book structure. Participants will explore differing binding structures and consider varying combinations to create an artist book based on the concept of Mapping. Experience with artist’s book conceptual development and some binding knowledge is preferred but not necessary.” – Prof. Timothy Frerichs.
Prof. Timothy Frerichs is a professor at the State University of New York at Fredonia. There he teaches book art, artist’s books and printmaking. In 2023, he was nominated for the title of Distinguished Professor.
For Prof. Timothy Frerichs as a creator, the idea and concept of an artist’s book is very important, but so is the implementation of that concept, its realization using different materials and objects found in nature. In his creative practice, he combines different printing techniques, drawing, and collage, transforming all of this into a spatial art installation.
