Guilin is a city in China, situated in the northeast of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on the west bank of the Li River. Its name means “forest of Sweet Osmanthus”, owing to the large number of fragrant Sweet Osmanthus trees located in the city. The city has long been renowned for its unique scenery.
We come to Guilin by air plane from Shenzhen, because our train tickets disappeared – it was the Spring Festival time and a lot of people travelled back home. Taxi took us to the hostel, we were booked from Lithuania. But it was terrible hostel – all window we closed for ever, toilet had no door to the room, water was falling on the floor in WC, it was cold and very wet. The name of our hostel – Guilin Backstreet International Youth Hostel – it’s look very good in the web, but not in reality.
Town very commercial with beautiful scenery. We visited Elephant Trunk Hill – 40 Yuan for one person; and Fubo Hill – 30 Yuan.
Also we visited “Dream Like Lijiang” – the New Ballet Circus. It was something marvellous, wonderful. During “Ballet” not allowed to make photos. But after the show all actors standing, and visitors makes pictures with them. 360 Yuan for two persons.
The Li River cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo is the centrepiece of any trip in China. It is expensive, but very beautiful journey. 780 Yuan for two.
