The National Museum of Art in Norway
July 14, 2022 in Artists book, Events, Gallery, Important by Kestutis Vasiliunas
The National Museum in Oslo
Time: 5 July 2022
Location: Oslo, Norway
On the 5th of July we visited The National Museum of Art in Norway in Oslo. From 2019 the National Museum was temporary closed. It was opened again on June 2022. At the same time was opened and the new Edvard Munch Museum in Oslo, or “Munch” – a museum of poor architecture both inside and out. Who designed this hopeless structure? Who cares. Bad things have no authors. From outside is like soviet building “decorated” with asbestos slate, from inside like a cheap supermarket with small illogical spaces.
If we talk about The National Museum – it is also in old style building, I am sorry. And Norway is very rich country to build something extra modern in the 21stcentury. But the museum looks worse than “Bonn Art Museum” in Germany, which was designed by the Berlin architect Axel Schultes and opened in 1992. However, the collection of the National Museum is interesting with classics of Norwegian art, contemporary art and excellent educational “corners”. Also, it has maybe the best paintings of Edvard Munch, like “The Scream”, which original is very sensitive and absolutely different from what we know from the internet.

Exhibition „History of Slavery in America“
June 20, 2020 in Articles, Events by Kestutis Vasiliunas
Black Lives Matter
155 years since end of slavery?
Location: The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, U.S.A.
Time: 2019
“The great American abolitionist, writer and orator Frederick Douglass once said, “Slavery is the great test question of our age and nation.” Now, 400 years after African people were captured, enslaved and first transported to America, the repercussions of enslavement – a systematic and institutionalized practice – remain with us today.” – https://www.buffalolib.org/
In 2019, during my travel with the “8th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2018” in America, (the Exhibition was installed in the Reed Library of the State University of New York at Fredonia), we with prof. Timothy Frerichs visited some libraries and museums. In the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library we have seen the exhibition „History of Slavery in America“. Sad, very sad.
But even more sad that slavery and human trafficking have flourished in our day, and supported by governments. Who does hard and dirty work in Europe, U.K. and in America? “Black people”, slaves from East Europe and Balkan Countries, from Middle East, people from poor countries. How many colonies does Britain, France or Spain have in America, the East, in Africa? But you fight for free Tibet. Great. But why don’t you fight for a free North Ireland, Gibraltar, Catalonia… for free African countries from France?
Who works in British hostels, in Spanish fruit and vegetable plantations, who work for you in China, India or Africa? Not slaves? And you are proud to celebrate the abolition of slavery?…

Artist’s Book Objects – Exhibition of Roberta Vasiliuniene
June 9, 2020 in Artists book, Events by Kestutis Vasiliunas
Artist’s Book Objects of Roberta Vasiliūnienė
Roberta Vasiliuniene is one of the best artist’s book creator in Lithuania. She creates artist’s books more than 29 years and created more thank 80 wonderful artist’s books and artist’s book objects in different styles and structures. Almost all her books are unique.
What is artist’s book object? Like Prof. wrote in one article “Artist’s book object is itself an art object, a piece of art.” The piece of art where the idea of an artist’s book is materialized in a form, based on various structures of a book, using different materials.
And maybe the main thing which admire me when I look on artist’s books objects of Roberta is not an idea, although all her books have deep conceptual idea, but wonderful connections of different materials in one piece of art. Ceramic and skin of a snake, paper, metal and dry flower, metal coffee box lids and a prints, glass and found old book… All the material she puts together in an artist’s book object, she does it with great sensitivity and meanings. And all materials have, what is normal, different substance and different colours. We can’t image the book without text (maybe I can), but using a text in artist’s book has certain rules, I would say. A text in an artist’s book is not just text, or it could not be, because if it tells something, it’s already literature… The text in an artist’s book is more than a “literature”, a telling story, it is a conceptual element, a direction to explain the idea of an artist’s book. And here, in artist’s books objects, created by Roberta, are many such found “directions”, texts, or it is better to say words as typographical elements without meaning or with an important sense.

The purpose of the lectures and artist’s book viewing was to acquaint students with the artist’s book as an interdisciplinary art. To help to understand what an artist’s book is, what its principles are. To learn the history of an artist’s book in relationship with the world of art history, and history of the book. Get acquainted with its structures, and to help understand how old book structures influence the creation of new artist’s books in our time. Also we see how important an artist’s book is now for the modern book design, conceptual art and art installations.
Students created own “artist’s books” and “artist’s book-objects”.

May 12, 2020 in Articles, Artists book by Kestutis Vasiliunas
Lietuviškoji dailininko knyga pasaulio kontekste
Kęstutį Vasiliūną kalbina Eglė Petreikienė
Papildytas žurnalo „Nemunas“ 2019, No. 4 tekstas
O XX a. pradžios „samizdatas“? O sukurti rankomis, gražiai įrišti meniški leidiniai? Koks turi būti tiražas, ar jis ką nors lemia? Ką manau apie Rivos Castleman „A Century of Artists Books“? Ir daug kitų klausimų.

Hanne Stochholm, Danija
Dažniausiai šie pavadinimai nusako laikotarpį ir stilių: Livre d’Artiste – XIX a. pabaiga – XX a. pradžia, kai Prancūzijoje dailininko knygos buvo kuriamos buržuazijai, kviečiant bendradarbiauti jaunus perspektyvius menininkus ir naudojantis to meto naujausiomis leidybos technologijomis. Be to jose išnyksta jas sukūrusio menininko individualumas, lieka tik tradicija.

Joseph Johannes Visser, Olandija

The Dilemma of an Artist’s Book: What is it and What is it Not?
May 7, 2020 in Articles, Artists book by Kestutis Vasiliunas
Lithuanian Artist‘s Book in the World Context
Eglė Petreikienė interviews Kęstutis Vasiliūnas
Expanded text of the magazine “Nemunas” 2019, No. 4
In the beginning let’s clarify definition of the genre. A conceptual book created by artist as an object of art is called an artist’s book (artist or artists’ book). In Lithuanian media and publishing of art research we discover various national terms like authorial, artist’s or visual artist’s book. Is it so difficult to find a common term?
Norwegian critic of art Vilborg Stubseid Hovet arrived to Vilnius 7th International Artist’s Book Triennial to discuss the concept of the artist’s book. An author of some books on this particular topic she questioned some details including linguistic inquiry of the proper position of apostrophe in the phrase artist’s book, as well as what are the boundaries of this genre. For instance, what are ‘zines’ – are they also artist’s books? What is ‘samizdat’ known since the early 20th century? What about handmade tastefully bound artistic book? What should be the circulation of the edition, if it is important? She asked me what I’m thinking about ‘A Century of Artists Books’ by Riva Castleman and many other questions.
Various ways of binding pages is nothing more than an instrument because nontraditional methods of binding artist’s books often perform much better than those widely used. Traditional graphical technics like lithography, screen printing, wood carving, intaglio printing do not determine belonging to this genre. Its terminology is sophisticated in the most of languages: Libro d’Artista in Italian, Livre d’Artiste in French, Künstlerbuch in German, Книга художника (kniga hudozhnika) in Russian, etc. One may think that these terms say the same thing but that‘s not true even if translated meanings seem to be the same. Most often these terms indicate a period or a style: Livre d‘Artiste – a late 19th and early 20th century, when artists’ books were produced for representatives of bourgeois in France, using most innovative technologies of publishing and involving perspective young artists. Purchasing a painting was too expensive for many citizens, buying a print was cheaper. Think about young perspective poet, talented young artist, quality paper, good publishing house and luxury press altogether producing a beautiful, unique, signed limited edition book, usually called ‘a portfolio’because its lists were held loose for optional framing and hanging on the wall. That’s ‘Livre d’Artiste’. A dusty volume on the shelf doesn’t look a great showpiece but an exposed framed piece of art makes more impression. Today ‘Livre d’Artiste’ means or is at least supposed to mean an artist’s book of classic style. They are still produced but even in France nobody calls them that way. A ‘Künstlerbuch’ is based on expressionist stylistics, presents texts, images, shrifts and is usually made in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. Similarly to French practice in Germany artists select some works of famous authors to illustrate them. A ‘Künstlerbuch’perfectly printed on quality paper today is perceived as commercial publishing, a commercial artist’s book. The art market of Germany is the biggest in Europe, involving collecting artist’s books by museums, libraries and many private art collectors. The works of artists there meet the demand of illustrated volumes of some authors, especially some popular Russian and Jewish poets. Illustrating only volumes of ten top-popular authors brings warranty of commercial success. Artist’s books of that kind are perfectly printed on excellent paper by letterpress machines, illustrations made by woodcut, lithography or intaglio technics. Professionally bound in the best private publishing houses they look luxurious but are indeed too much ‘true’, unsurprising and what I’d like to emphasize is a little bit out of time. Moreover there is only tradition left but artist’s individuality missing.
- Joseph Johannes Visser. The Netherlands. Contemporary Livre d’Artiste
- Peter J. Moosbrugger. Germany. Künstlerbuch
- Книга художника (kniga hudozhnika) in Russian. Text V. Mayakovsky
What predominant tendencies or outstanding leaders could be noted in this genre?
There are many tendencies and not a single simple one. Europeans often think in Europocentric way but in fact it’s very different in various continents and countries. One may ask why very few authors are still working with artists books in its birthplace France. If France was compared to Germany it would be found that in Germany there are dozens times more of creators of the artist’s book and their works are much more various, covering styles from traditional to conceptual.

What is artist’s book object?
Artist’s book object is itself an art object, a piece of art.
Artist’s book object is a book as art object.
Artist’s book object is a conceptual book, an idea of a book materialized in a form.
Artist’s book object is three-dimensional works of art which keeps the idea of the book and maintains a form of a book. These artist’s book can contain a variety of materials: paper, wood, metal, plastic, feathers, cement, cultural garbage, etc. They are unique, with different shapes and sizes, from miniatures to book sculptures or giant installations of books.

“The purpose of this workshop is to experience Japanese culture and art through these techniques” – wrote Prof. Ryuta Endo.
Ukiyo-e print (Nishiki-e), or water-based woodcut, is a traditional Japanese print technique. “Ukiyo-e are paintings and prints that take as their subject matter the ukiyo, the floating world, which is to say, the real world of today in which people actually live. Created between the latter half of the seventeenth through the early twenties centuries, most ukiyo-e were woodblock prints, mass produced for enjoyment by ordinary people, not the wealthy or high in status.” Introduction to Ukiyo-e. Tokyo Bijutsu.
Prof. Ryuta Endo was born in 1960, in Japan. In 1984 graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Painting. In 1986 completed Master’s Program at Tama Art University, Japan. Participated in many exhibitions in Japan and abroad. Professor in the Musashino Art University, Tokyo.

Visiting Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection of the John M. Flaxman Library in Chicago
September 12, 2019 in Artists book, Events by Kestutis Vasiliunas
Together with my friend Stephen Murphy and Bob Tanner we have visited the “Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection” of the John M. Flaxman Library in Chicago. It is one of the biggest artist’s book collection in USA, so it was my big dream to visit this Collection, to see the artist’s books and to talk with the stuff of the Collection.
In the John M. Flaxman Library we met Special collection manager Mrs. April Sheridan and Mr. Nick Ferreira. Here we were talking about artist’s books, about our activity in artist’s book movement and about the exhibition of the “8th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2018” opened in the “Evanston Art Center” in USA.
I donated few catalogues of the “International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius” to the John M. Flaxman Library. We look forward to further collaboration.
The Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection was established in 1989 to honour the late Joan Flasch, a bookbinder and artist who worked in a number of positions at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
“The Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection (JFABC) digital library is an online guide and finding aid for the rich collection of artists’ publications available in Flaxman Library Special Collections. The JFABC brings together close to ten thousand artists’ publications in all formats and media including: books, zines, multiples, video and audio recordings, digital works, periodicals, and other intimate works of art created by artists of local, national, and international significance. Focusing on materials published from the 1960s to the present, it is complemented by collections of reference works and exhibition catalogues to support in-depth research on artists’ publishing”.
The John M. Flaxman Library belongs to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
“For more than 150 years, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) has been a leader in educating the world’s most influential artists, designers, and scholars. Located in downtown Chicago with a fine arts graduate program consistently ranking among the top programs in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, SAIC provides an interdisciplinary approach to art and design as well as world-class resources, including the Art Institute of Chicago museum, on-campus galleries, and state-of-the-art facilities. SAIC’s undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate students have the freedom to take risks and create the bold ideas that transform Chicago and the world—as seen through notable alumni and faculty such as Michelle Grabner, David Sedaris, Elizabeth Murray, Richard Hunt, Georgia O’Keeffe, Cynthia Rowley, Nick Cave, Jeff Koons, and LeRoy Neiman”.

Artist’s Book of Franklin Luke
September 7, 2019 in Artists book, Events by Kestutis Vasiliunas
It was morning. I was sitting in the local restaurant in Evanston with two gentlemen for business meeting. One of them, Mr. Bob Tanner, had one of the first artist’s book, printed in USA. The second was Mr. Stephen Murphy, an artist and photographer. At night, the rain stopped raining. So, it was beautiful sunny morning. I was eating American breakfast with ham, potatoes and half fried eggs with double espresso.
After the breakfast, we cleaned the table, and Mr. Bob opened the book. It was the book “The Junk Yard Garden”. He said, it is illustrated book for children, created by Franklin Luke in 1958 and published by Institute of Design, Chicago. But it was not a book for children. It is an original artist’s book. Images on the pages created by graphic techniques, using colography, and letterpress for printing the text. Beautiful book.
What we know about artist? Nothing. Franklin Luke was studding in the Institute of Design, in Chicago. Later he was working for publishing houses.
We found few illustrated books for children by Franklin Luke. But, on my opinion they are not so interesting like “The Junk Yard Garden” printed 11 years ago. Even if we still see the style of Franklin, the illustrated books are beautiful, but more commercial.
“Fried Onions & Marshmallows: & Other Plays for Little People”. Author: Sally Melcher Jarvis, illustrated by Franklin Luke. Published by Parents’ Magazine Press in 1968.
“Did You Ever Dream?”. Author: Doris Herold Lund, illustrated by Franklin Luke. Published by Parents’ Magazine Press in 1969.
“The Crow the Kite and Golden Umbrella”. Author: Ann Tompert, illustrated by Franklin Luke. Published by Abelard-Schuman in 1971.

We work very hard to show the part of the “8th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2018” in USA. Though we have the invitation to show artist’s books in America, friends, who help to manager it, to organise art exhibition in USA is very difficult and complicate. And maybe the biggest problems are the cultural differences between America and Europe and customs: America, we are very sorry, does not belong to the European Union…
We selected some artist’s books for showing it in USA, and we will try to send it to America. But we are not sure how many artist’s books we will have the possibility to show in the Evanston Art Center or later in the Reed Library of the State University of New York at Fredonia. Everything will depend on the space and the security of the exhibition. All information will be in our web.

100th Travel – 8th Artist’s Book Triennial in Vercelli Ended 2
April 12, 2019 in Articles, Artists book, Events, Gallery by Kestutis Vasiliunas
8th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2018
Theme: Memento Mori
Time: 23 February – 10 March 2019
Location: “Museo Leone” (Museum Leone), Vercelli, Italy
Journey No. 100
Journey time: 7-17 March, 2019
4623 km with the car through Poland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic and again Poland, and back to Lithuania
In the morning of 11th of March 2019 I reinstalled the “8th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2018” in Museo Leone. It was a little sad, so nice space… In one small coffee shop we drank espresso with my friend Roberto, and I started my journey to Venice.
From Vercelli, if the weather is good, you can see the Monte Rosa – the second highest mountain in the Alps and western Europe (elevation 4,634 m), after Mont Blanc.
Now I planned to go to Venice from Vercelli without highways by the local roads. I wanted to visit the Cathedral of Pavia (Duomo di Pavia), and to stop for the night in Pilgrim house (Casa del Pellegrino) in Padua. On the road from Vercelli started the earth storm.
The road was terrible, with many cars, moving in little speed, and roads rings – something new in Italy. Maybe it comes from Belgium… Here you have to be very careful and concentrated when you are driving. Especially if you are driving at a speed higher than the permitted speed…
The Cathedral of Pavia was begun in 1488, under architect Cristoforo Rocchi. Leonardo da Vinci is also known to have contributed to the project. But I could say that in almost each village or small town in Italy has beautiful churches, and sometimes they are older and more beautiful than “famous” cathedrals.
From Pavia I went to Padua, again by local road.
In Padua I arrived in the later evening, and I was the latest guest in the Pilgrim house. But the hotel location was amazing, it was in front of the Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua.
In the room, I found interesting magazine with a “beautiful” cover. So, I decided to make a “selfie” with this two guys and my dinner.
In the morning I visited the Basilica of Saint Anthony. This famous Saint was a Portuguese Catholic priest and friar of the Franciscan Order. Saint Anthony was born in 1195 in Lisbon, Portugal, and died in Padua in 1231.
The exterior style of the Basilica of Saint Anthony is a mixing of mainly Romanesque and Byzantine elements, with some Gothic features. The Basilica looks great and saint, where each hour celebrate the Holly Mass. In the left side in the Basilica are the relics and tomb of St. Anthony – the aim of pilgrims from all over the world.
Near the Basilica of Saint Anthony stands a sculpture of Gattamelata (1445–50) made by famous Italia artist Donatello (1386–1466).
In the monastery courtyard I “found” the old doors with the inscription above “Biblioteca Antoniana”. The Antonian Library of Padua was born in the first half of the thirteenth century. The Antonian Library currently holds 828 manuscripts, of which about 600 are medieval works (including 41 great choral books, with a series of illuminated antiphonaries and graduals of 1340-1360), 260 incunabula, 3200 editions of the sixteenth century.
From Padua I drove to Piazzale Roma in Venice, where are parking garages – this is the last point you can reach with a car in Venice.
I left my car, and with big and heavy suitcase I went to the “Gallery SG” in the “Scuola Internazionale di Grafica”. The weather was very clean, and from one of the bridges I have seen the mountains. Fantastic. It was first time when in Venice I have seen Alps and snow. If we measure it would be about 165 km straight from Venezia to the mountains, by road about 300 km…
Here I met the director and owner of the “Scuola Internazionale di Grafica” (International School of Graphic Art), Mrs. Matilde Dolcetti. The “Gallery SG” is the part of the “Scuola” with very intensive art activity. An exhibition “8th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2018” is currently in the “Gallery SG”.
Here, in the “Scuola di Grafica” I met my old friend from Sweden – Katriona Persson. She many times participated in the “Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius” and now arrived for the opening of the Artist’s Book Triennial in Venezia.
In Venice I spent only two hours and I had to move to my hotel in the Alps. Before moving I ate Venetian ice cream with Italian espresso… Yes, the real espresso is only in Italia! I did 2551 km till Venice only for bringing one suitcase of artist’s books for the exhibition in the Gallery SG. I never have been so short time in Venezia. In reality I was very disappointed…
And again the road.
But when you cross the highway no. A4 and you start to drive on local roads to the north of Italy, everything changing. You start to breathe freely, you see the beautiful Alps, clean and nice small villages. Here the Time is more slow…
With darkness I reached the Italian village Timau. The hotel was in front of the old church. I was only one guest in this small hotel…
At night I walking in the village and found 3 churches, one was extremely big. I started to think, it is too many churches for one small, very small village… The reason of this three churches, and many crosses on the houses, and small chapels – the Wars. Here I found the Military Museum “Museo La Zona Carnia nella Grande Guerra 1915-1918”. The village remembering the horror and hardships these soldiers endured during the first and the second wars. In the past this village belongs to Austria.
During my short stay for the night in this village, I came back to memories about a novels of American great humanist and write (is he an American writer?) Ernest Hemingway… Did it happened here? No. I know, not here. But near here. In the novel the Hemingway wrote about the battles near Gorizia, the retreat of the army near Udine. But for me was the feeling like I come to the place where my favourite Write was fighting and creating his great novels. Silence.
The beautiful serpentine road from the village Timau took me to the “Passo Monte Croce Carnico” (elevation of 1.357m) . It is the border between Italy and Austria. On the pass was the “Open-air museum of mountain warfare 1915-18”.
On the serpentine road down was the “heldenfriedhof” heroes’ cemetery. Strange, very strange feeling… Emptiness, no cars, no people, only cut trees around, and crosses. And silence again.
When I drove off the mountains, the snow began.
I turn 200 km out of main road to go to Admont Monastery, where is world largest monastery library, and one of the most beautiful library in the world. Here I have been in 2014 for visiting artist’s book exhibition: “Künstlerbücher – Artists’ Books. International Works from 1960 to Today”.
But this time my journey was unsuccessful – the museum was closed for the winter, my friends didn’t got the message from me, and I didn’t meet them… So I eat my lunch again near my car – I had no time to go to café or restaurant, I had to drive to Salzburg till the night. It was a little cold outside…
When I drove, it started raining and snowing with rare snowflakes. The sky was blending and it was beautiful to drive.
In the later evening I come in Salzburg. Here, in Salzburg, my friend Martin invited me to stay and a little to take a rest after travel, in Artists House (Künstlerhaus). This evening was first time during my 7 days travel, when I ate the dinner. I was eating warm food with Martin’s beautiful family in his nice house… That was great.
It was raining. My body inside was still trembling after long driving.
Continue in the next article. Almost all photos were taken while driving through the windscreen.

100th Travel – 8th Artist’s Book Triennial in Vercelli Ended

8th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2018
Theme: Memento Mori
Time: 23 February – 10 March 2019
Location: “Museo Leone” (Museum Leone), Vercelli, Italy
4623 km through Poland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic and again Poland back to Lithuania.
On 10th of March the “8th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2018” in Vercelli was ended. It was beautiful artist’s book exhibition in Museo Leone with many visitors and artist’s book lovers. I have to say that the Artist’s Book Triennial in Museo Leone was looking fantastic – the exhibition hall is small, but so warm with wall painting and wooden ceilings, and the artist’s books has some special connection with this beautiful space.
But as the 8th Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius was ended in Vercelli, and after few days it had to be opened in Venice, in the Gallery SG, I had to come to Vercelli, to reinstall the exhibition in Museo Leone, and to drive part of it to Venice, and part of the Artist’s Book Triennial to take back to Lithuania.
So, I had to plane the rout of my travel, and to drive to Vercelli from Vilnius with the personal car. And as it is my 100th travel in abroad during Lithuanian Independence, I wanted to make it more impressive and somehow to make it more nice… 100 journeys – not so little, especial when almost all my journeys were for participation in the exhibitions, symposiums, art workshops, for giving the lectures and art workshops, for visiting museums and galleries. And almost all my journeys I have made with my car. Through the 28 years I spent 1290 days in abroad. During the travels I slept in the car in front of the steering wheel, in the tent on in the fields, in terrible cheap hotels on the road and, sometimes in very good hotels in Portugal, China or Korea; I was driving at nights and at days, in winter time and in summer… I have made more than 200.000 km in abroad with my cars, visited more than 200 art museums in all Europe, Japan, Korea, China and USA… I had many “adventures” on the road with criminal persons, police and custom offices, sometimes I was driving and sleeping, sometime I had hallucinations, as the road was too long and I was driving 28 hours at once, and I was trying just to go with the car between the lights… in big speed. But, the God was with me, and He helped me from all dangerous situations. And dangerous situation were a lot.
My first journey abroad was in 1991, three years after I graduated the Vilnius Art Institute, to Norway for participation in Lithuanian art exhibition “Myter og Legender” dedicated for the “Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania” (February 16th, 1918). I and my wife Roberta, two young artists were included in such important art exhibition in Bergen between few important Lithuanian artists like Petras Repšys, Feliksas Jakubauskas, Vytautas Balčytis and other. And that happened less then a year after Lithuania declare Restoration of Independence on 11th March 1990… from Soviet Union. So, as were were free Country… for travelling in abroad we had to get special passport – Soviet foreign passport from Soviet Union… I found it:
It was strange journey. The fly was not straight Vilnius – Bergen, or Vilnius – Oslo, what would be natural, but Vilnius – Moscow – Oslo… and from Oslo by train to Bergen, and back the same way through Russia.
In Bergen we installed the Lithuanian art exhibition in Bryggens Museum. Official opening was on 16yh Febriuary 1991, on the Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania! Great!
Here are the photos from the catalogue of the exhibition.
The 100th my travel, although it is the “business” journey I wanted to make beautiful and interesting, and a little dangerous, like always.
